Storyboards

Storyboards allow a filmmaker to pre-visualise their ideas and refine them in the same way a scriptwriter refines their ideas through a succession of drafts. They serve as the clearest language to communicate ideas to the entire production team.

You need to include:
- shot type
- camera position and movement
- camera action, dialogue and detail
- any extra notes such as whether going to use a pan, a reaction shot, tilts, or zoom

Camera Position

High Camera Angle:
- looks down on its subject
- makes subject look small, weak or unimportant

Low Camera Angle:
- looks up at its subject
- makes the subject seem important and powerful

Level Camera Angles:
- even with the subject
- may be used as a neutral shot

Long Shot:
- long range of distance between camera and subject
- often provides a broader range of the setting
